Steve Voss joined UK's political science faculty in 1998 after completing his doctoral studies under Gary King at Harvard University. Steve has served as the department's Director of Undergraduate Studies since 2004 and became chair of the College's Educational Policy Committee in 2006. The year before, he served as acting director of UK's American Studies program and still sits on the program's steering committee. Steve is a specialist in elections and voting behavior, with a focus on racial politics in the U.S. South. He often teaches graduate methods, an interest that has led to research in a variety of substantive areas as well as to work on ecological inference and on survey methods. Steve's peer-review articles have appeared in various journals, including the American Journal of Political Science and Journal of Politics. He collaborated with David Lublin at American University to complete the Federal Elections Project, a data-collection effort funded by the National Science Foundation.
