Response Sheet #7

Essay Question on the video shown Wednesday (Nov 13):

Using your knowledge of the positivists theories of deviance that have been covered in class lecture/discussion and in the assigned readings, write a 8 paragraph (minimum) essay in which you discuss three theories that you think could be used to help better understand and/or explain the deviant behavior seen in the video. In the essay you should explain the  central concepts/propositions of each of the three theories you reference. Be sure to cite your sources; indicate the author and page number if citing information from the text; if you use information from lecture simly indicate this by citing
the information in the format: (Lecture notes).

You should then use information and examples from the video to explain/demonstrate how/why each theory you discuss could be used to understand the factors and forces that influenced the development of the deviance seen in the video. For example, if you think social disorganization theory could be applied to an understanding  of the deviance in the video, you should discuss the relevant concepts/propositions of social disorganization theory and then use information from the video to show that the community in wihch the events occurred could be seen as suffering from some of the elements/aspects  of social disorganization. You should follow this pattern for each of the three theories you use in your essay.

Be sure to follow correct grammer, spelling, etc. Use Times New Roman 12 point font and single-spacing

This assignment is worth 20 points.
