In the Office

I (vita) am an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Policy and Evaluation at the University of Kentucky. I hold a Ph.D. in Quantitative Research, Evaluation, and Measurement in Education from The Ohio State University, a M.S. in statistics from the University of South Carolina, a B.S. in mathematics and sociology and a B.A. in mathematics education from Fairmont State College. In addition, I am a certified mathematics teacher for grades 5 - 12. Currently I teach courses in measurement, statistics and research methods, including survey research.

My research is anchored in quantitative evaluation and measurement, with a focus on Survey Research and measurement, specializing in the Rasch model. Underlying my methodological interests is a passion for the teaching profession, issues around quality in the classroom. I held a 2-year term as the American Educational Research (AERA) Survey Research SIG program chair and was elected to take over as President of the SIG, and currently hold that position. I am also actively engaged in the Midwest Educational Research Association (MWERA), American Statistical Association (ASA), and National Council of Measurement in Education (NCME) and serve as a reviewer for various journals with a focus on measurement and statistics. I have over 75 regional and national presentations and have published over 25 peer reviewed manuscripts.

Out of the Office

When I am away from the job, most of my time is spent with my three dependent variables - Jamie, Bill, and John, and my husband Will who is an Associate Professor of Statistics at BCTC here in Lexington, KY.
