Damaged Letters
This feature retrieves instances of letters that have crumbled away, are torn, or are marred by holes.

This result indicates that at 137v5, the 'm' in min is damaged. Clicking the folio at this spot takes the reader to a marginal note with the backlit image, showing that the second stroke of 'm' is damaged by a hole.

The 'Enhanced with ultraviolet' search retrieves instances of damaged letters enhanced or restored with UV.

A search for damaged letters enhanced with UV shows that at 185r11 'æg' in onsæge is torn, as illustrated in the note linked to the folio.

Deletions and Erasures

Scribal deletions and erasures are recorded by MS folio and line number; letter or letters deleted or erased; scribe, location, and method of deletion or erasure.

This result shows that the first scribe crossed out 'g' (and replaced it with 'l') on 163v13.

Erased readings are represented by bracketed colons, the number corresponding to the number of erased letters. The erased text (when still legible) is the 'value' of the erasure.

Here the second scribe erased 'g' on 190r21 (see Alterations for change of following 'o' to 'r').
