Description

This free event is the inaugural public meeting of the North American Research Network in Historical Sociolinguistics (NARNiHS). It is intended to maximize exposure to high-level current work in the field of historical sociolinguistics, provide hands-on experience in selected tools and methods in the field, build the professional network, and situate the field within the broader landscape of general linguistics. The conference is free and open to all interested parties.

The conference will open with a keynote session by Stephan Elspaß of the Universität Salzburg, a leading figure in the field and co-founder of our European-based sister organization, the Historical Sociolinguistics Network (HiSoN).
