Assistant Professor

Department of Economics

University of Kentucky

I am an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Kentucky and a Research Affiliate of the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA). I completed my Ph.D. in the Department of Economics at the University of Michigan. My research focuses on issues in labor economics and demography in the United States and the Soviet Union. In one strand of research, I evaluate the effects of family policies, such as maternity benefits and family planning programs, on childbearing and children's economic outcomes. In another strand of research, I evaluate the effects of pension reform on labor supply and mortality. My paper, 'Can Maternity Benefits Have Long-Term Effects on Childbearing?', was awarded the Heinz König Young Scholar Award, the IIPF Young Economists Award, and the 2015 Dorothy S. Thomas Award.
