Peter Simpson, Professor of Bassoon

Peter in his studioI have been the bassoon teacher at UK since 1976, and the Principal Bassoonist of the Lexington Philharmonic for most of that time. As a teacher, I have been fortunate that little on the bassoon came easily to me. Because of this I have looked to many sources for ideas in solving problems. I have been able to study both in the US and in Europe, and to play in master classes for many of the world's top bassoonists.

Peter in 1976My teaching and playing has also been greatly helped by the advice of several practitioners of Alexander Technique. I firmly believe that the is "more than one way to skin a cat", and I enjoy helping students find their way along the path to good musicianship.
