Please note that I have not visited each of these sites personally. I would strongly recommend that you check out these Web pages before turning kids loose on them. These are sites that I have collected as listing from various books, e-mail postings and other sources.   • Education Week on the Web You can access this quality professional weekly newspaper for educators right on the Web. Stay informed on the latest news and strategies or search the archives. This is a well designed and maintained site.
  • TeacherLINK is an online teacher resource center sponsored by Utah State University's College of Education, the Educational Resources and Technology Center, and Utah State University's NASA Regional Educator Resource Center.
  • Air Quality Lesson Plans and Data Lesson plans are designed to provide educators who teach grades K-12 the subject of air quality.
  • Computer Teacher's info Curriculum, lesson plans (soon to come), and teaching ideas.
  • Anne Frank Online
  • Endangered species unit plan Besides information concerning endangered species of Hawaii, it now has a page of hotlinks to many endangered species sites and a lesson plan to go with the website.
  • Gorillas in the CyberMist is still under construction, but has a lot of stuff already about Koko, Michael, Gorilla Foundation, Gorilla Language Project, pictures of Koko and Penny etc, etc.
  • Connected Curriculum Project This material gives the CBL activities and has information on using the calculators, using the CBL, programs for the lab ready to down load using Graph Link...
  • The Weather Unit Developed for grades 2-4, this teaching unit presents lessons on such topics as precipitation, temperature, rainstorms, and climate.
  • What Makes Music? This educational supplement to a traveling exhibit about what makes music is part of the virtual museum at the Franklin Institute Science Museum.
  • Finding Your Way With Map and Compass The U.S.G.S. has created this page to describe different types of maps and their uses. Site explains concept of scale. Users also learn about compasses and how they should be used.
  • Grant Opportunity Resources This Web site consolodates resources to help educators find and write grants.
  • MiddleWeb MiddleWeb explores the challenges of middle grades reform with a special focus on urban middle schools.
  • Lego Dacta Lesson Plans Student Activity Sheets and Teacher's Guides to eight different activities.
  • Introduction to Geography: Learning the Compass "This lesson is part of a program designed to introduce fifth grade students to basic geography concepts and map skills. This lesson covers compass directions, a concept central to using maps in geographic instruction and real-life applications."
  • Science Teacher's Resources This web site is for science teachers to share ideas (labs, demonstrations, teaching tips, etc.). Topics are categorized by subject areas including: Chemistry I, Chemistry II, Biology I & Life Science, Biology II, and Physics.
  • Instructor magazine Instructor is America's oldest magazine for elementary school educators. In their Web site, you'll find curriculum integration strategies, professional development opportunities, help with assessment, and more.
  • Web Page Generator Teachers.Net (www.teachers.net) has just completed a new, free service for the Teachers seeking to create Web pages. It is the Teachers.Net Homepage Maker. Teachers complete a small form, supplying general information about themselves and their school, and specifying a few features they would like to see on their own web page. The Homepage Maker will then generate a World Wide Web page customized by the user's input. This webpage can then be saved and downloaded, or self-emailed and used as a template.

  • Teachers Resources for ChemCom ChemCom is a chemistry curriculum written for secondary school students by the American Chemical Society (ACS). It attempt to enhance science literacy by emphasizing chemistry's impact on society. This web site offers information about ChemCom and the ChemCom e-mailing list, links to relevant Web sites, eight real-world, problem-based units, and more.

  • GNA Teacher's Guide Resources for online educators including databases, directories, hotlists, and periodicals.
  • Instructional Technology Connections Excellent collection of LISTSERVs, e-journals, and K-12 links for teachers.
  • Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators Thorough list of resources arranged by discipline.

  • World Lecture Hall Home Page Syllabi, assignments, lecture notes, exams, and calendars from many online courses.
  • Access Excellence is a U.S. educational program sponsored by Genentech, Inc. This site puts secondary level biology teachers in touch with their colleagues, scientists and sources of new scientific information. You'll find animal behaviour, nutrition, forensics, environment and other topics along with plenty of genetics and biotechnology in the "Activities Exchange" section. In the "What's News" area you can link to a media watch page, factoids and interviews, all updated frequently. It's a large site, with many other sections relating to careers in biotechnology, the future, and much more.
  • Eisenhower National Clearinghouse for K-12 Math & Science Teachers
  • The Science Learning Network that includes The Franklin Institute of Philadelphia, Boston's Museum of Science, the Science Museum of Minnesota, Miami Museum of Science, Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, and San Francisco's Exploratorium, has organized a new World Wide Web site. The site contains resources for K-8 teachers who want to integrate the Internet into their classroom curriculum. The project is funded by a $3.5 million grant from the National Science Foundation and a $2.5 million contribution from Unisys.

  • Whales in Primary Education Here's a site that may fit the needs of elementary teachers who want to incorporate the internet into their theme-based teaching. It has been created by the International Wildlife Coalition and is designed for grades 2-5.
  • TEAMS site/Lesson Plans The internet is a great source of Lesson Plans with ideas from teachers, museum curators, book publishers and many other sources.
  • Economic Education Website The purpose of EcEdWeb, the Economic Education Website, is to provide support for economic education in all forms and at all levels. For lesson suggestions, check out the Curricular Materials section or head for the idea page on how to teach economics using the Internet.
  • http://www.MATHED.MATH.ECU.EDU East Carolina University has a site dedicated to Middle School Teachers teaching database, spreadsheets, and wordprocessing. The site is new. It does have the spreadsheet, database forms, and released test items supporting the North Carolina Computer Curriculum on-line and available to down load. The site is especially interested in collecting lesson plans suitable for middle school use and having them available on-line.
  • TEACHERS HELPING TEACHERS TEACHERS HELPING TEACHERS is a new, free, educational service on the Internet. This non-profit service for classroom teachers is designed to provide inexperienced teachers immediate access to curricular ideas from experienced teachers around the world.
