Unit 1
 
 Unit 1 is concerned with honing your reading skills and helping you understand and employ outside sources in your own work. The unit teaches accurate quoting, paraphrasing, summarizing, and documentation.  Additionally, Unit 1 defines plagiarism, provides examples of plagiarism, and discusses ways of avoiding plagiarism. The work culminates with the submission of a formal summary of Crevecouer's "Letters from an American Farmer" due Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998.
