MGT 699 MergerPlan Simulation

Welcome to the inaugural run of the MergerPlan Simulation.  As described in the accompanying documentation, you and your MGT 699 teammates play the role of an upper-level bank manager tasked with the responsibility to integrate the products, operations, systems, products, and people of your bank (Northern Bank) with that of Southern Bank, which was just acquired by Northern.  The twin challenges associated with post-M&A integration is to balance the strategic and operational imperatives with the delicate work of gaining consensus among and the support of a variety of constituents/people – with radically different views of this acquisition – who will have direct or indirect impact (or will be impacted by) on the progress and success of the integration effort.

Each MGT 699 student will be provided with a temporary password required to access the simulation for an initial practice round.  Please familiarize yourself with the look and feel and features of the simulation prior to class on DEC 8.

·         Click here (MergerPlan) and follow the instructions to download the ‘player.’ Then, once the MergerPlan simulation is functional, enter the following Server Code 62.193.197.19 and your password.

On DEC 8, each MGT 699 team will be provided with a password for the run of the ‘real’ simulation.  The simulation exercise takes 2-3 hours to run.  Teams may do the simulation at a time of its choosing.

During the week of DEC 13, each MGT 699 team will schedule a 15-20 minute debriefing interview with the course instructor. The interview will consist of unstructured Q&A regarding the team’s choice of strategy and the decision making process encountered.  Each team member is required to participate in a substantive manner.  Teams will be evaluated on the quality of the debriefing interview, as well as the simulation scores. Interviews may be scheduled via e-mail to walter.ferrier@uky.edu and be held between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday of that week.  The location of the interview will be the MGT 699 team’s responsibility (i.e., any location that is at least semi-private, has a table and adequate seating, lighting, etc.).
