Amy Robinson

Amy Robinson grew
up on a family dairy farm in central Wisconsin. Amy was very active in 4-H and
FFA for several years, which included terms as president in both organizations.
She participated in livestock projects that included swine, beef and horses.
Amy entered UW-RF on a full scholarship from the Wisconsin Academic Excellence
Program, and majored in Animal Science with a equine emphasis and a science
option. Amy and her husband own a commercial cow herd and a purebred Suffolk
flock.
While at River Falls, Amy has been very active in several organizations. The
centerpiece of her activities has been the Block and Bridle Club. She served
the club as an innovative leader, through educational, social and fundraising
activities. She recently served as the club's president. She has been the recipient
of many scholarships, as well as academic and serve awards while on campus.
Her work experience includes serving as the university feedmill manager for
one year, agriculture retail store sales, and veterinary assistant. Amy will
enter the UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine fall 1997. Her career goal
is to provide a practice for managers of ruminant livestock.
Joel DeRouchey was raised on a purebred cattle, swine and sheep
farm in central South Dakota. Starting at a young age, he took an active role
in all aspects of daily care and management involved in operating his family
farm. Through his involvement in 4-H and FFA, he gained confidence and valuable
leadership skills. Joel is pursuing a degree in Animal Science with minors in
Ag Business/Ag Marketing and Economics at South Dakota State University.
Joel has been very active in many organizations at SDSU, using these activities
to develop his organization, interpersonal and leadership skills. Joel was the
1995-96 National Block and Bridle Junior Scholarship Award winner. He has been
active in the SDSU Meats and Livestock Judging Teams Collegiate FFA and the
SDSU Catholic Campus Parish. Upon graduation in December 1997, he plans to complete
a graduate program in nutrition, and pursue a career in academia with a land-grant
university.
Paul Bryant was raised in a 4-H family in Ocala, Florida. Paul was a national winner in 4-H and the High School Rodeo Association. The resulting travel provided early opportunities for Paul to see the need for education and training. Paul received many scholarships including the largest scholarship given to an Animal Science major at the University of Florida. Paul graduated with a B.S. in Animal Science from the University of Florida May, 1997. While at the University of Florida, Paul was president of Block and Bridle and was a Student Coordinator for the 1997 National Block and Bridle Convention in Orlando. He was the recipient of the College of Ag Alumni Appreciation Award for Leadership (1977) and the Outstanding Junior in the College of Agriculture (1996). Paul was the third place winner of the National B&B Junior Scholarship Award (1995-96). He will enter the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine during the fall of 1997, and is planning a career in large animal medicine.
