82nd National Convention Summary

The 2001 National Block and Bridle Club Convention was held in Louisville, KY, November 8-11, 2001, in conjunction with the North American International Livestock Exposition. On Friday, the group toured Clay Charolais Farm, the Kentucky Horse Park and one of two Thoroughbred Farms, Gainesway or Calumet. Friday evening was spent on a dinner cruise after which the group danced to the wee hours of the morning. On Saturday morning, the group gathered at the Expo Center and listened to presentations by Dr. Todd Thrift, University of Florida, Dr. Glenn Dolezal, Excel Corporation, Dr. Don Applegate, Morehead State University and Shannon Wolfram, Man'O'War Farm. During Saturday afternoon, most of the group helped the economy of Kentucky by visiting Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby. During Saturday evening, the group attended a rodeo at the Expo Center and again danced to the wee hours of the morning. On Sunday morning, the group met back at the Expo Center for a buffet breakfast, entertainment by Dennis Gaines, San Antonio, Texas, and the annual awards presentations. There were 575 attendees representing 45 schools at the Convention.
