Odys·sey (n. Old English) 1. an extended wandering or journey. 2. ancient Greek poem about the wanderings of Odysseus after the fall of Troy.
At times, it seems that we in pest control are on or own modern-day Odyssey - having come so far, but with a future
that is anything but certain. Customers expect so much from us today, and there are so many technical and business
challenges that can potentially blow us off course. The only way to keep your "vessel" headed in the right direction is to
stay current. Let the The 2001 University of Kentucky Pest Control Short Course be your compass.
This year's conference is packed with useful topics for owners, managers, and
technicians alike - two, half-day workshops on emerging trends in termite and pest control; servicing accounts without
using pesticides; the liability threat from public health pests; ant control tips that work; the art of using sticky traps -
even a talk on the "psychology" of a termite! Dozens of practical topics and the best speakers in the industry. Look
over the program and we think you'll agree. In fact, if you attend and are not satisfied with the learning experience, we'll refund
your registration fee.
Join us in Lexington on September 25-27 for the 2001 Pest Control Short Course - and take some of the uncertainty out of your "Pest Odyssey".

LOCATION AND LODGING-
The 2001 conference will be headquartered at the Hyatt Regency located at 400 West Vine Street in downtown Lexington.
The Tuesday afternoon sessions, industry exhibits and social functions will take place at this location. The remainder of the
conference will be held on the campus of the University of Kentucky. Opening ceremonies on Wednesday morning will be held
in the Seay Auditorium in the Agricultural Science Center North. The Hyatt Regency is holding a block of rooms for Short Course
participants until SEPTEMBER 4. Attendees are urged to make their reservations early as space is limited. Reservations can be
made by calling:
Hyatt Regency
401 West High Street
at 859-253-1234 or 800-233-1234.
TRANSPORTATION-
Bus transportation from the Hyatt Regency to the University of Kentucky will be provided for the convenience of Short Course participants.
Buses will leave each morning beginning around 7:30 A.M.
Please plan to ride the bus as parking is virtually impossible to find on campus. Riding the bus to and from the Short Course will reduce the "hassle" of finding parking spaces, avoid parking tickets and will keep your vehicle from being towed away by the campus police.
CONTINUING EDUCATION-
The Kentucky Division of Pesticides will be awarding continuing certification credit for Categories 7, 8 and 10. Continuing certification
credit for this program has also been requested from Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio,
Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. If you work in another state and would like your attendance to count towards
that state's certification, we will gladly supply you with a copy of the program to submit to your state's authorities for evaluation.
