COVID-19 Accommodated Testing Procedures for Instructors

There are many changes this semester related to the provision of Accommodated Test Proctoring services at the Disability Resource Center during the COVID-19 pandemic. These adjustments are made to attempt to maintain a safe environment for students, instructors and staff, so please read this page completely.

1. The new processes for the DRC Accommodated Testing Service are fluid and we will share changes and updates as they develop.

2. The DRC Accommodated Testing Center will remain open, but capacity of the testing center will be limited due to social distancing. As a result, exams may not occur concurrently with the time of the exam for class. Scheduling of exams is at the discretion of DRC staff, based on the availability of appropriate space. The DRC will continue with procedures established for online exams during the Spring 2020 semester.

3. Discuss with each student their accommodations. Inquire as to which they are requesting to use for our course’s semesters exams and/or quizzes. Students are permitted to choose to use all of their accommodations, some, or none of their accommodations throughout the semester exam by exam.

Most exams being given ONLINE the DRC testing service will not be needed: however if there is an accommodation that an instructor does not know how to provide please contact us for guidance.

Paper or Online Exams

1. SCHEDULING

a. A student will provide you (instructor) with a copy of their 2020-2021 academic year accommodation letter.

b. Discuss with each student their accommodations. Inquire as to which they are requesting to use for our course’s semesters exams and/or quizzes. Students are permitted to choose to use all of their accommodations, some, or none of their accommodations throughout the semester exam by exam.

*It is not the student’s choice where to take an exam Re: in the DRC or in the department. If their accommodations can be met it is deemed reasonable. The DRC service is only the ‘back-up plan’. If you have questions about how to meet any type of accommodation stated in a letter of accommodation from the DRC please contact us.

*If a student has only ‘low distraction testing environment AND extended testing time of 50% or 100%’ please make the arrangements on your own with the student.
