Seth Stein is The Deering Professor of Geological Sciences at Northwestern University. His research interests include plate tectonics, earthquake seismology, earthquake hazards and space geodesy. He was one of the organizers of EarthScope, a national initiative to dramatically advance our knowledge of the structure and evolution of North America. He is a coauthor of a widely used textbook on seismology, editor of the Journal of Geophysical Research, and author of more than 100 scientific publications.
