Seven Receive Provost Teaching Awards

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 27, 2005) -- Seven faculty members at the University of Kentucky today were presented 2005 Provost Teaching Awards. The teaching awards carry cash prizes ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.

The awards were presented by Provost Michael T. Nietzel, who praised the faculty members for their excellence in what he said is one of the highest professional callings in the world.

Faculty members who received the awards and the departments and colleges in which they work are:

  • Tenured Faculty ($5,000 each); John Christopher, associate professor in the Department of Physics, and Robin Cooper, associate professor in the Department of Biology, both in the College of Arts and Sciences
  • Non-tenured Faculty ($3,500 each): Anna Secor, assistant professor, Department of Geography, College of Arts and Sciences, and Irina Voro, assistant professor, School of Music, College of Fine Arts
  • Teaching Assistant ($1,000 each): Rynetta Davis, Department of English, and Erin Kenny, Department of Anthropology, both in the College of Arts and Sciences, and Allison Tabor, Educational Policy Studies and Evaluation.
