Recent news of mass shootings, violence and loss can leave us with various emotions including fear, anger, confusion and sadness. While the recent shootings occurred in Orlando, many within our community are seeing friends, families, loved ones and even ourselves reflected in the incident. Please know that you are not alone. If you are struggling with the personal impacts of these recent events, the tone of national discussions or if you are experiencing negative treatment, threats or other more subtle forms of oppression based on any aspect of your identity, please schedule an appointment or utilize walk-in services at the UK Counseling Center or VIP Center. The UKCC and VIP Center will remain a safe place for discussions of the impact of these tragedies. We feel grief for those who died or are injured, traumatized and for all of those who experience heightened anxiety related to safety as a result of these tragic events.
