While the University of Kentucky works to carefully track issues related to international authorization and licensure, it is the student’s responsibility to understand current circumstances or special requirements such as:
Degree/Educational Recognition: Several countries will not formally recognize foreign online education or degrees, which may have implications for students who later seek to enroll in other educational programs, or for those who intend to use foreign education to gain employment or the right to work within their respective countries.
Licensure and Certification Programs: International students considering an academic program that leads to a professional license or certification (or that is in a field where these credentials may be required) should first confirm with the appropriate professional licensing board in their country of residence or country in which they intend to work as to whether a University of Kentucky degree is recognized when seeking licensure, certification, or employment in a specific field.
Technological Considerations: Please be advised, for many international locations it is unclear whether there are suitable technological capabilities available to offer reliable educational offerings using online or hybrid formats. Prospective students should be aware of this possibility prior to enrollment, and should always comply with their country's laws when accessing online content.
Students completing Education Abroad experiences or planning to come to the University of Kentucky’s physical campus at any time during enrollment should contact the International Center for more information.
UK Distance Learning is conducting a full review of regulatory and tax requirements for a set of pilot countries. If you are a prospective student or a UK program interested in taking/offering online programs abroad, please complete the appropriate inquiry form below. Programs with an inquiry regarding a specific student situation should complete the student inquiry form. Countries that are proposed will be considered for future review. Once a country has passed a full review by the University of Kentucky, it will be posted on this page.
