The Masters of Data Science program at University of Kentucky is administered jointly by three complementary programs: Computer Science, Biostatistics and Institute of Biomedical Informatics.  It offers unique training opportunities and prepares students with critical data science skills in both technical and application domains - skills that make them highly sought after by academic, research, industrial and government organizations.

According to Glassdoor, Data Scientist continues to be the top career in the nation in 2019, bolstering great pay and job security.  As a massive amount of data rapidly accumulates, the demand for data scientists will remain on the rise in many industries ranging from IT to health care to business.  The curriculum aims to prepare the future data science professional with a critical skillset in data science, incuding database management, statistical and machine learning techniques and big data analytics.  The capstone project required by the program will expose students to the analysis of real life datasets in a selected application domain and will help students gain experiences in collaboration with domain experts and other data scientists.
