kristen.perry@uky.eduThe graduate certificate in Teaching in Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Classrooms takes a comprehensive approach to supporting English Learners and other historically under-served populations by addressing aspects of cultural and linguistic diversity across the curriculum within a regular classroom context. Practicing teachers work with a cohort and engage in job-embedded learning activities to enhance their professional development as educators.
Schools need teachers who are qualified to teach in culturally and linguistically diverse classrooms -- this certificate prepares practicing educators to better address the learning needs of students in classrooms with increasing cultural and linguistic diversity.
As a result of the knowledge and skills gained from this certificate, you will immediately be able to apply new professional knowledge in educational settings, including planning and implementing instructional strategies related to:

The department of Curriculum & Instruction considers applications for graduate study on a rolling basis. However, applications to our program also include applications to the Graduate School, which does have specific deadlines, depending upon the term you are applying for and other factors. In order to be considered for a specific starting term, you should submit your applications by the following deadlines:
Spring: December 9
Summer: April 15
Fall: July 22
Applicants must meet the Graduate School admission requirements.
