What is it?

Kaltura is a video streaming service that integrates with Blackboard using the Kaltura Building Block.

How can I use it?

Students can upload video and audio files and then embed links to it within assignments, in discussions, blogs, or journals.

Instructors can upload video to Kaltura from within a Blackboard course and then make it available to students under a course Media Gallery, within a Content Area, or as part of an assignment, quiz, or test.

The option for Kaltura Media will not appear in the Content Editor for students unless the instructor has first enabled the Kaltura Tools in the Blackboard course.

Who can use it?

Every Blackboard user (students and faculty) has their own media space on the Kaltura streaming media server, called My Media, where their content is stored and can be managed.

Where is it?

You can access Kaltura through the Content Editor of an assignment, discussion, blog, or journal entry. You can access My Media from the My Bb page. It is located on the lefthand side of the screen under Tools.

Technical Requirements

Like Blackboard, Kaltura works within your web browser. A web camera and microphone are required to record video or audio.
