Graduation ceremony to be held May 8 at 1 pm

BAE is pleased to invite students and their families to the Biosystems Engineering Graduation Ceremony on May 8 at 1 p.m. The ceremony will take place in the Cameron Williams Auditorium of the Plant and Soil Science (PSS) Building. BAE alum Steve Gardner, ECSI, LLC, will address the graduating seniors, and graduating senior Hanna Hafer will also speak. A light lunch will be served at 12:30. The PSS building is located next to the Charles E. Barnhart building, the department's home. Interested family members are encouraged to take a self-guided tour of the building after the ceremony.

Crofcheck receives Outstanding Teacher Award again

College of Engineering's Dean Walz has announced the faculty, staff, and student award recipients from this week's Tau Beta Pi Awards Banquet. BAE Professor Czarena Crofcheck, Ph.D., P.E., has received the award for Outstanding Teacher in Biosystems Engineering. The "outstanding" awards are voted on by students. This is the seventh time she has been honored with the award.

In addition, three others from our department received awards:

  • Frank Woeste Award – Stephen Cecconi
  • Outstanding Junior – David Cline
  • Outstanding Senior – Hana Hafer

Adedeji receives Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship

Akinbode Adedeji, Ph.D., has been awarded a Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship. During May and June, he will be spending 28 days in Nigeria helping his former department at University of Ibadan Nigeria in areas of curriculum co-development, research collaboration and graduate student mentoring and training. Assistant Professor Adedeji joined the BAE department two years ago. He teaches two classes on food and bioprocess engineering every fall, and he currently has three graduate students under his supervision.
