4-H Teen Conference Invades BAE

The department was busy during the 2015 UK 4-H Teen Conference, offering two-day, five-hour tracks and ninety minute workshops to students. Carmen Agouridis, Ph.D., P.E., led "A Beautiful Solution to Stormwater Pollution." Through a series of hands-on activities and demonstrations, students learned about stormwater, how it is polluted, and how to mitigate the harmful effects of stormwater volume and pollution by designing, building, and testing a rain garden model in the BAE's Hydrology and Hydraulic Lab. UK Wildcat Pulling Team wins ASABE International Quarter Scale Tractor Design Competition

Congratulations to the Wildcat Pulling Team on another outstanding effort at the ASABE International Quarter Scale Tractor Design Competition! Department Chair Dr. Sue Nokes had never attended the competition until this year. She picked a good year to go to Peoria for the first time as she was able to witness a dominating performance by the UK Wildcat Pulling Team, which won the overall championship for the second straight year. 

Crofcheck promoted to Professor

Czarena Crofcheck, Ph.D., P.E., has been recommended for promotion from Associate Professor to Professor, pending approval of the Board of Trustees this summer, Dean Walz announced this month. Crofcheck, the department's director of undergraduate studies, specializes in food and bioprocess engineering. She teaches four classes (a required course, an elective course, and senior design) and advises 30 students, though she has advised as many as 88 in one semester. During her career, she has received numerous awards for teaching and research.
