Specific Position Responsibilities:1. Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the FFA brand and driving membership efforts to support the 100% affiliation goal, including providing support to FFA advisors to ensure the successful and timely submission of chapter rosters and related payments by state designated deadlines, and management of the collective state membership to be shared with National FFA to secure accurate delegate counts.2. Develop and implement a plan to increase enrollment in middle and high school chapters and increase engagement of agriculture educators to grow academic performance, employability skill development, and postsecondary and career readiness of agriculture students.3. Provide leadership development opportunities and facilitator training sessions to ensure leadership skills and employability skills are presented to the state FFA officer team, guiding them through their roles at each regional and state conference event, as well as participating in national conferences and leadership events throughout their year of service.4. Plan and coordinate state level career development events, leadership conferences, award programs, camps, and state convention in an effort to provide thousands of students with the opportunity to translate the knowledge and skills derived from classroom instruction into real-life applications, further demonstrating career and technical education competency attainment. 5. Serve as a liaison between Tennessee FFA and national agriculture education organizations to stay apprised of postsecondary and industry demands and emerging trends.   a. Serve as a liaison between Tennessee FFA and stakeholders such as, but not limited to, the Tennessee FFA Foundation, Tennessee FFA Alumni, Tennessee agriculture business and industry representatives, and state/national agriculture education organizations.b. Participate and help coordinate meetings and events such as the Tennessee FFA Board of Directors meetings and the Tennessee FFA Goodwill Tour, and also participate on boards such as the Tennessee FFA Foundation Board of Directors and Sponsoring Committee, Tennessee FFA Alumni Council, and Team Ag Ed. c. Support the work of the Agriculture program manager (as requested) in annual review, improvement, and implementation of strong agriculture courses and programs of study, including providing input on the integration between classroom instruction, FFA activities, and supervised agricultural experiences (SAE) outlined in the three circle model of high quality agriculture education.6. Attend the National FFA Convention, National Association of Supervisors of Agriculture Education Convention, and engage with industry partners on an ongoing basis.7. Effectively communicate with Tennessee agriculture educators to promote successful FFA programs and student achievement through the development and implementation of a state calendar of events, management of the tnffa.org website, and dissemination of updates and resources to advisors via newsletters, Remind texts, etc.  8. Develop and manage budgets for Tennessee FFA events such as State Convention, State CDE/LDE, state officer travel and training, etc. Review student leadership financial activities, in collaboration with the CTSO accountant, to ensure accuracy.9. Collaborate with corresponding program managers to identify and promote rigorous CTSO competitions and activities which support CTE course standards, leading to a decrease in participation of low level activities and competitions and an increase in students participating in promoted competitions and activities.10. Support the successful implementation of statewide career and technical student organization activities driven by the department and share data to improve CTSO operations.11. Effectively manage a team of regional FFA consultants, supporting teachers, and regional activities for the organization, including collaborating at least weekly via conference call, and serving as a liaison for the FFA regional consultants to generate new, ongoing relationships with industry partners, and develop sponsorships as needed. GHFP-II is supported by the US Agency for International Development (USAID).   GHFP-II’s goal is to improve the effectiveness of USAID health programs by addressing the Agency’s immediate and emerging human capacity needs. The program seeks to accomplish this goal first through the recruitment, placement and support of diverse health professionals at the junior, mid and senior levels. These program participants include fellows, interns, corporate volunteers and Foreign Service National professionals. The program then provides substantial performance management and career development support to participants, including annual work planning assistance, and ensures that professional development opportunities are available.   Looking to the future, GHFP-II also seeks to establish a pool of highly-qualified global health professionals that will ensure the Agency’s ongoing technical leadership and effectiveness. This objective is supported by an extensive outreach program that brings global health opportunities and specialized career advice to a diverse range of interested individuals, with a particular focus on those underrepresented in the field of global health.   BACKGROUND:   The Research, Technology, and Utilization Division (RTU) of the Office of Population and Reproductive Health (PRH) provides technical leadership in building scientific and empirical knowledge and ensures its use in the design and implementation of effective, efficient, high-quality family planning and reproductive health programs. The objectives of USAID’s research program in Family Planning and Reproductive Health RTU are to provide new and/or improved technologies; improve the quality, accessibility and cost-effectiveness of family planning and related reproductive health services; strengthen developing country institutional capabilities to use research to diagnose and solve service delivery problems; and enhance the dissemination and utilization of research results.   To achieve these broad objectives, the RTU Division is organized into three teams: Implementation Science, Knowledge Translation, and Biomedical Research and Development.   The RTU Division maintains close working relationships with other United States Government (USG) agencies involved with research and development, other donor organizations, multilateral organizations, non-governmental agencies, civil society organizations, and private sector.   INTRODUCTION: The Family Planning and Reproductive Health Research Advisor (Advisor) will serve as an integral member of the RTU Division providing technical assistance within RTU, and additionally as directed, to PRH, the Bureau for Global Health (GH), and other operating units within the Agency. The Advisor will receive technical guidance from the Chief of the RTU Division or designee, who will serve as onsite manager.   ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Family Planning and Reproductive Health Research Advisor will be responsible for:  Providing technical advice to the RTU Division’s implementation science research projects and staff. Technical advice includes assisting in reviewing project documents and research protocols for technical quality, contributing to the design and methodology of proposed research, monitoring of research activities, programmatic assistance in regular management meetings.Coordinating knowledge translation activities, such as the design and execution of syntheses or analyses of existing research and data to develop recommendations for the use and scale up of evidence-based practices, and development and tracking of monitoring and evaluation plans and work plans. This activity may involve coordinating collaborative efforts to synthesize research results according to criteria related to the rigor of research methodology through a collaborative process; conducting secondary data analysis; and working with technical advisory groups to reach consensus on “best practices” in family planning programming.Providing technical assistance as needed on key priority issues on family planning, gender, child marriage, fertility awareness, and adolescent reproductive health in interagency working groups; responding to information requests, reporting, and taskers within the Agency; participating in PRH technical teams, such as the youth and gender teams.Providing technical assistance to country programs through short-term trips to the field and participation on country teams. These activities may involve support for key mission reporting, planning, and design processes; monitoring projects; evaluating research activities or FP programs; and coordinating Headquarters support for mission country programs.Providing input on key working groups within PRH and GH on country support and participating in technical coordination activities that contribute broadly to the work of the RTU Division, PRH Office and Global Health Bureau. Such activities may involve prioritizing potential new research topics and technical approaches; and identifying implementation issues.Coordinating the reporting, documentation and materials review. This may include preparing documentation, including financial reports; and responding to other requests for information and may also involve reviewing training materials and tools to ensure they incorporate up to date technical knowledge.   LEVEL II An Advisor at the level II will be further responsible for: Providing input on key working groups within PRH and GH on country support and participating in strategic planning and technical coordination activities that contribute broadly to the work of the RTU Division, PRH Office and Global Health Bureau. Such activities may involve contributing to innovative designs to address emerging priorities in the fields of family planning and normative change; identifying and exchanging best practices; dissemination of lessons learned; and participation in efforts to address technical and strategic opportunities to improve FP/RH outcomes.Participating in the authoring of reports to Congress.Reviewing training materials and tools to ensure they incorporate up to date technical knowledge.Providing technical advice to country programs through short-term trips to the field and participation on country teams. Employer: Eastern Nevada Landscape Coalition Expires: 01/22/2018 JOB OPPORTUNITY INVASIVE PLANT INVENTORY TECHNICIANS – May-July 2018 (3 months)   The Eastern Nevada Landscape Coalition (ENLC) is currently hiring one (1) invasive plant technician to work in the Elko, NV District of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) on a two person crew.    Located in Ely, Nevada, ENLC is a non-profit conservation organization comprised of public, private, and non-profit partners dedicated to the restoration of the Western ecosystems through collaborative teamwork.  Elko is located in the remote, northeastern corner of Nevada. The area has a unique blend of Northern Basin and Range and sage brush steppe attributes including beautiful expanses of sagebrush flats and many mountain ranges available for exploring and recreating. The rugged Ruby Mountains lie 20 miles to the southeast of Elko and offer unique hiking, backpacking, climbing, fishing and camping experiences. The city of Elko has a lively downtown area and hosts cultural events throughout the summer (including the International Basque festival, rodeos and the Ruby Mountain Relay).  INVASIVE PLANT IVENTORY TECHNICIAN DUTIES: Field crews will identify and inventory invasive and noxious weeds on public lands, focusing on fire rehab areas that burned in 2017. Inventory duties include identifying invasive plant infestations, surveying, recording and managing data.   All technicians will be responsible for driving large, 4-wheel drive pick-up trucks while towing trailers. Utilizing UTVs and/or ATV’s for inventorying large infestations is also required, as well as hiking to and around inventory sites on steep and rocky terrain. Technicians are also required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Technicians must be comfortable with truck camping in the backcountry for up to eight (8) days at a time and MUST be physically able to hike while wearing a backpack over rough and steep terrain.   EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Qualified applicants should have experience and/or education in invasive plant management, biological sciences, natural resources, plant identification or general plant taxonomy and the ability to follow directions and safety protocols. Applicants must be experienced with 4WD vehicles and should have a clean driving record for the past 3 years. Experience with utilizing GPS units and programs (Trimble units and ArcPad) is required.  SALARY: $14.50-$15.50/hour, depending on experience (plus $38/day per diem when camping)  SCHEDULE: Positions run from early May through July (3 months) and the work schedule will occur on an 8-days-on/6-days-off schedule (10-hour days, Thursday-Thursday). The crew will camp near the inventory sites for the eight days of work- returning to town mid-way through hitch to take care of data uploading and to replenish H2O, gear, and fuel.   Crew members are responsible for their own housing while working on this project.
