Marianne R. L. Young

Assistant Vice President for Student Development & Support

Marianne R. L. Young serves as the Assistant Vice President for Student Development & Support. She has worked at the University of Kentucky since 2009 and joined the Stuckert team after serving as the Assistant Dean for Student Services and Success for the Gatton College of Business & Economics. Before her time at UK, Marianne worked as a Behavior Specialist and mental health therapist for adults with cognitive and/or developmental disabilities. She obtained her B.A. in Psychology and Spanish from Transylvania University and her M.S. and Ed.S. in Counseling Psychology and Ph.D. in Higher Education Policy and Evaluation from the University of Kentucky. Marianne is originally from Millville, KY and now lives in Versailles with her husband, Jay, their son, Thomas, and their daughter, Thea. 

Prior job that shaped her: Marianne served as a Resident Advisor and Hall Director while completing her education. These positions in student affairs really helped her recognize her passion for serving students. 

How she would describe yourself: Positive and empathetic

What she enjoys doing outside of work: Marianne enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and traveling. 

A goal in life:  In 2018, Marianne reached her goal in life to travel to all 50 states. 

Fun Fact: Marianne’s favorite animal is a groundhog.
