Adopting, Designing, and Teaching with Open Educational Resources (OERs)
502 King Library
Thursday, November 1, 2018 - 3:00pm
Event concludes at 4:00, but there will be individual exploration and consultation that can extend beyond this time.
This collaboration between CELT and UK Libraries will address the ways in which instructors may choose to adopt or design, and teach with, open educational resources (OERs).
While there is a clear consensus that students are increasingly burdened with rising textbook costs (among other rising college costs) and that instructors share common difficulties working with traditional textbooks, it can be difficult to locate, adapt, and combine open resources into a quality set for students, and to shift the course design and pedagogy to align with these new resources.
Guest speakers will address two perspectives: (1) adopting and combining resources that others have created, and (2) designing/producing custom resources.
