Promoting Cross-Disciplinary Self-Regulation
Lucille Little Fine Arts Library, Study Room 1 (second floor)
Wednesday, January 31, 2018 - 3:30pm
Event Concludes at 4:00 p.m.
Although learning transfer (applying skills and knowledge to new learning contexts) is a crucial goal of higher education, it often does not occur. Self-regulated learning (SRL) is a well-established process by which individuals develop goals, select learning strategies, and monitor their performance. In this workshop, after introducing participants to learning transfer and SRL, we will use case studies to show how science and humanities instructors promote SRL. The group will identify transferable and discipline-specific SRL components and participants will design activities to foster transferable self-regulatory skills.
Light refreshments will be provided.
