Improving Student Success with Read&Write Gold

Student success and accessibility are intrinsically linked. Read&Write Gold is a discrete, customizable toolbar that integrates reading, writing, studying, and research support tools with common applications to ensure students build confidence and independence, reach their potential, and succeed in their academic pursuits. UK now has purchased a campus-wide license for Read&Write Gold, which will greatly assist our students in their studies, and make UK's courses more accessible.

Dr. Deb Castiglione is the Universal Design and Instructional Technology Specialist at CELT. She has worked to get a campus-wide license at the University of Kentucky for the software Read&Write Gold, which follows principles of universal design for learning. We asked Dr. Castiglione about what the software can do for learners, and why we should think more about inclusive practices such as universal design in our teaching.
