A Note From The Office of Nationally Competitive Awards
January 8, 2021
Welcome to a new year! Congratulations on making it through a tumultuous and challenging 2020. As we all continue to adapt to necessary changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our office is staying in close contact with scholarship foundations to bring you the most up-to-date information on award opportunities. The best way to stay informed is to monitor our social media pages on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, as we will share changes to application processes and/or deadlines there. We plan to hold several virtual information sessions during the spring semester and will post session details on our online calendar.
Currently, most foundations are moving forward as usual and hope to provide awards and programming for summer 2021 and the 2021-2022 academic year. While foundations are certainly understanding of interruptions caused by the pandemic, it is important that you use the resources you have and seek out new opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills. Here at UK, there are still ample ways to get involved in research, activities, and leadership training in virtual formats. Not sure what is available? BBNvolved is a great place to start.
The Office of Competitive Awards continues to hold online appointments with students to talk about award opportunities, preparations, and deadlines, so please reach out and let’s discuss your specific situation. Please feel free to contact us at the e-mail addresses below to schedule an appointment. We have also compiled video resources and recordings of our virtual information sessions here to assist you when researching award opportunities.
Lastly, if you have been offered an award please let us know. We are always delighted to celebrate your achievements!
Our best wishes to all of you,
Pat Whitlow, Director, Nationally Competitive Awards (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Emily Sallee, Assistant Director, Nationally Competitive Awards (email@example.com)
