On Tuesday, April 12, Class of 2023 UK physician assistant students from the Lexington and Morehead campuses came together in Morehead for a joint skills lab experience.

During this lab session students were introduced to the basics of suturing. The session was led by retired faculty member and practicing physician assistant Sam Powdrill. Students were taught surgical knot tying techniques and basic suturing techniques. In the coming weeks students will build on this foundational knowledge to include advanced suturing techniques.

Upon completion of the lab session faculty, staff and students spent time in fellowship over a potluck meal.

"These events are important in building the comradery of the cohort between campuses," said Josh Burkhart, Assistant Professor in the UK Department of Physician Assistant Studies.
