Participating Institutions

The doctoral program is an inter-institutional program led by the University of Kentucky in close cooperation with Eastern Kentucky University, Murray State University, and Western Kentucky University. The educational and research expertise of these universities and faculties creates a program that enables its graduates to provide academic, research, and clinical leadership. Rehabilitation Sciences Program graduates will receive their Ph.D.’s from the University of Kentucky.

University of Kentucky

The University of Kentucky (UK) is the flagship university of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. It is located in Lexington (pop. 280,000) and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate and graduate students. It is a comprehensive, land-grant university and is designated as a Doctoral Extensive University by the Carnegie. The Physical Therapy, Communication Sciences & Disorders and Athletic Training*  programs at UK participate in the program, and Rehabilitation Sciences Program graduates will receive their Ph.D.’s from the University of Kentucky.

Eastern Kentucky University

Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) is located about 30 miles south of Lexington in Richmond (pop. 24,000) and has an enrollment of approximately 15,000 students. Programs participating in the doctoral program from EKU include Communication Disorders and Occupational Therapy. The Occupational Therapy program is considered among the best in the nation.

Murray State University

Murray State University (MSU) is located in the city of Murray (pop. 15,725). MSU, located in the far west region of the state, presently enrolls about 10,304 students. The Communication Disorders program at MSU is one of the collaborating partners.

Western Kentucky University

Western Kentucky University (WKU) is located in Bowling Green (pop. 48,000) in south-central Kentucky. It has an enrollment of approximately 20,000 students. The Communication Sciences and Disorders program is one of the collaborating partners for the doctoral program. The focus of the master’s program is both adult and pediatric.
