Celebrating the leadership of Dr. Phyllis Nash

Dr. Phyllis Nash officially retired from her post as interim chair of the department of clinical sciences on April 9. The College of Health Sciences would like to thank Dr. Nash for her commitment, dedication, and many years of service to the College. She has admirably filled a multitude of critical administrative roles during her tenure.

Her academic and administrative experience has been critical to fulfilling the College of Health Sciences mission as the gateway to the health science professions. Dr. Nash first came to CHS in 2012 as the interim associate dean for academic affairs, remaining in the role until she transitioned to interim chair of the department of clinical sciences in 2014.

Although her post-retirement position with CHS was part-time, she continued to serve the College by taking on new roles as the division director of health sciences, education, and research and the director of graduate studies for the physician assistant studies program.

Before coming to CHS, Dr. Nash served as a faculty member in the UK College of Medicine’s Department of Behavioral Science, and later served as the Medical Center’s vice chancellor for academic affairs for more than 10 years.

Her desire to improve instruction and learning in health care environments has touched countless people across this university. Dr. Nash always gave of herself to better the lives of others. Her presence will be greatly missed. We at the College of Health Sciences wish her the best of luck and great joy as she enters this new season of life.
