The College of Health Sciences’ Office of Student Affairs is happy to provide co-curricular educational opportunities for targeted student populations.  Workshops listed below are ones we have presented in the past and are willing to customize for your student group or class.  Please note that this list is not all-inclusive.  If you have a specific topic in mind that is not listed, please do not hesitate to reach out to rebecca.serrano@uky.edu to discuss how we might meet your goals.

Student Success

  • Culture of Consent
    • A presentation to discuss consensual sexual activity, clear misconceptions, and raise awareness of sexual assault and resources available on campus.
  • Your Professional Self and Community
    • Participants will learn about etiquette when engaging with professionals in their field as well as strategies to develop a place within their professional community.
  • Imposter Syndrome
    • Learn about Imposter Syndrome, or the feeling that your success is a product of luck instead of skill. Hear about some ways to overcome imposter syndrome, and why it is more prevalent than you may believe.
  • Procrastination
    • Participants will discuss the perils of procrastination and some strategies to avoid procrastination pitfalls in the future.

Mindfulness and Meditation

  • Intro to Mindfulness
    • In this interactive workshop, students will learn and practice stress management strategies through the use of mindfulness techniques.  Information on further learning through Koru mindfulness courses will be provided.  
  • Koru 4-Week Series
    • Koru Mindfulness is a 4 session course that will teach students the skill of mindfulness.   It will also help build the habit of using it on a regular basis. The curriculum was designed by researchers at Duke University for use specifically with emerging adults.

Financial Wellness

  • Financing your future: FAFSA & Scholarships
    • Participants will learn about the federal financial aid process and ways to fund their education.
  • Financial Well-Being in Grad School & Beyond
    • Participants will learn about graduate school financing, making responsible choices with spending and debt, and how credit works after graduation.
  • Values-Based Spending
    • Participants will learn how to build a budget as a student and reflect on what values drive our spending habits.

Graduate and Professional School Application Preparation

  • Personal Statement Journaling Workshop
    • Participants will be led through journaling and meditation exercises as a way to self-reflect and to get a jump-start writing personal statements for graduate and professional school applications.
