JoAnna Sloggy received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music, studying voice and piano co-currently from Methodist University and a Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Memphis where she received specialized training in voice as well as completed a rotation at St. Jude Children’s Hospital focusing on pediatric cancer rehabilitation.  She completed her clinical fellowship focusing on voice and upper airway disorders at the University of Kentucky Voice & Swallow Clinic and is currently the Singing Voice Specialist for the clinic.  JoAnna has extensive training and experience with voice in both classical and contemporary commercial music genres and vocal pedagogy.  She has performed extensively as a musical theater performer in the regional theater circuit and continues to run a music studio focusing on training performers for a career in the arts.  She is a member of the National Association for Teachers of Singing (NATS).  

Educational Focus
JoAnna’s academic focus involves clinical supervision of graduate and undergraduate students both completing rotations and observation hours in the department of Communication Sciences and Disorders who have an interest in the evaluation and treatment of professional voice, pediatric voice, general voice, and upper airway disorders.  JoAnna provides lectures for the UK Otolaryngology Residents focused on the care of the professional voice, voice pathology evaluation and treatment and diagnosing and managing upper airway disorders along with a case study lecture for the graduate level voice class.   

Clinical Focus
JoAnna’s specialized training includes the evaluation and treatment of professional voice users.   She also provides assessment and intervention of general voice disorders and behavioral disorders of the upper airway including vocal cord dysfunction and chronic cough, as well as evaluation and treatment of pediatric voice disorders.  Additionally, JoAnna is a certified provider of Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) for treatment of voice changes associated with Parkinson Disease and related disorders.
