Peer Mentors

Help Fellow CHS Students Succeed + Earn Extra Money

The College of Health Sciences (CHS) is seeking Peer Mentors for incoming first year undergraduate students. The position will come with a paid stipend for the 2017-2018 academic year. 

We are looking for peer mentors who: 

  • Are already established (accepted) into a CHS academic program 
  • Can commit to at least one academic year with their mentees
  • Are reliable, conscientious, able to maintain confidentiality, and regularly check their email
  • Are knowledgeable about CHS academic programs and career options in healthcare
  • Are approachable, good listeners, and can provide guidance and support to new CHS students
  • Are willing to participate in occasional evening and weekend activities

Duties include:

  • Serve as a peer mentor for 8-10 first-year students during the 2017-2018 academic year
  • Attend peer mentor orientation and training in April & August 2017
  • Read and familiarize yourself with peer mentor manual
  • Maintain communication with peer mentor coordinator, including a providing a monthly summary of activities with mentees 
  • Complete pre-tests and program evaluations as needed
