Every student has individual needs both academically and non-academically. For this reason as well as our challenging curriculum, the Human Health Sciences program features individualized advising. Each student is expected to schedule three (3) advising appointments per semester with their academic advisor (scheduling instructions found below as well as a suggested advising timeline).
Students should schedule regular advising sessions using their myUK Appointment Scheduler. Click here for instructions on how to utilize this tool.
In the event of a university closure, student appointments shall be canceled. In this unlikely event, students should reschedule their appointments and reach out to the advisor only if there are complications. Further, should the advisor not be available for advising (e.g., personal illness, unplanned event, etc.), they will reach out via email as soon as possible. Generally speaking, students should always check their UK email on the morning of an advising appointment. All advising appointments take place in CTW 111 unless specified otherwise.
For a more thorough timeline of academic events, please review the UK Academic Calendar. Beyond this timeline, an advisor can always be available as other needs arise. A student should feel comfortable scheduling appointments beyond the suggested timeline if the need arises. If urgent needs arise, students may, of course call or email their advisor for more expedited attention.
In an effort to be more accessible to students with immediate needs, the Office of Student Affairs have created walk-in hours to accommodate CHS students exclusively that have time sensitive advising needs. These walk-in opportunities are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis and reserved for issues that can be addressed in 10 minutes or less. Your advisor will not meet to lift advising holds during the walk-in hours.
