Please join me in thanking David Fahringer, MSPH, PA-C, for his service this past year as interim department chair and program director of the Physician Assistant Studies Program.

Under David’s leadership, our department and program have been able to sustain exemplary success in recruitment, retention, academics, fundraising and research. He also oversaw a comprehensive video assignment that is still underway, and continued to work on a particular passion project: developing and overseeing our innovative post graduate residency program.

It goes without saying that this was all accomplished during the extremely trying time of the pandemic.

But I never had to worry — I knew these entities were in good hands.

And I know they will continue to be.

The official transition to new Department Chair and Program Director, Virginia Valentin, DrPH, PA-C, will occur on Monday, Jan. 17.

Let us thank David and welcome Virginia.
