Celebrating Black History Month …

February 10, 2023

Students, Faculty and Staff,

Greetings. I hope you’re all staying well.

Amazingly, we’re already nearing mid-Febraury. I hope this new year is continuing to be gracious and kind.

Once again, I wanted to draw your attention to our celebration of Black History Month. Perhaps you’ve already seen some of our stories honoring our amazing African-American students and alumni and how they’re changing the world for the better.

While it is our opinion that we celebrate the success and diversity of these students during every month of the year, we recognize this also gives us an opportunity to focus on some truly great stories. We’ll continue to populate our website and social media with more examples throughout the month.

Lastly, I wanted to bring to your attention the latest in the 3rd Tuesday Series, presented by our Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. This month, “Healthcare in Color: A Discussion of the Experiences of Black Healthcare Professionals,” features the dynamic stories of local black healthcare professionals and how they are “blazing trails and inspiring others.” The presentation will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m., Feb. 21, in CTW 127.

It sounds like a perfect way to carry on this important celebration and discussion.

Continue to take care,

Dean Lephart
