Clinical Education

UK Physical Therapy affiliates with sites in 30 U.S. states and 3 international locations- in Australia, Italy and Hong Kong. There are both part-time and full-time clinical courses during the three-year program.

Facility types include hospitals, rehabilitation centers, sports medicine centers, geriatric and pediatric centers, home health agencies, and other more specialized types. During a clinical experience, a student will be assigned to a facility and work with one or more clinical instructors to apply concepts and skills from classroom and laboratory to patient/client situations.

During 39 weeks of full-time clinical education, we require students to affiliate in an acute hospital setting, a neurological setting, and an outpatient orthopedic setting, with an additional clinical setting of the student’s choice.

Students must be prepared to experience one clinical course outside the state of Kentucky, except when special circumstances prevent it. Students are responsible for all costs related to clinical experiences including, but not limited to, transportation, lodging, meals, clothing, physical examinations, health requirements and insurance.

Please see the links to current affiliated sites.
