Relationship Counseling
Relationship counseling is designed to assist people with their relationship problems. People in a relationship can work with a counselor to explore their concerns and work toward a better understanding and resolution of their difficulties. It can be used to gain more insight into each other, to learn new and more effective ways of communication, and learn ways to resolve conflict. The Counseling Center defines relationships broadly and includes individuals who are married or in dating relationships, GLBT partnerships, and individuals who are roommates or housemates. To be eligible for relationship counseling, at least one individual must be a student who is currently enrolled at UK.
We have recently changed our attendance policy in order to best utilize our clinical appointment slots and meet student demand for services. If a student does not attend an appointment (including an initial consult) and failed to cancel it by 4 pm of the prior business day, it will be counted as a no-show. When a person reaches 3 no-shows, he or she will be no longer eligible for ongoing individual services at the Counseling Center and may be offered other alternatives such as drop-in workshops and community referrals.
