FAFSA - What's Next for Applicants

Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships began notifying entering fall 2023 freshmen of other financial aid offers in early March.  Financial aid notifications are generated on a weekly basis for new applicants.  Notifications for entering freshmen utilize both digital and paper formats.  Digital notifications are sent to your personal and UK email addresses.  Financial aid notifications to continuing undergraduate, graduate, and professional students are scheduled to begin in late June.  Notifications for this group are digital only.  Notifications to transfer students will utilize both digital and paper formats; notices are scheduled to begin in late June.  Paper notices are discontinued at the beginning of the fall semester.

If you have filed a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), indicated the University of Kentucky (001989) as a school choice, and been admitted, then we should have your application on file.  To verify, please login to myUK, go to Student Services > Financial Aid.   Check the Received or Waived Documents section under the Required Documents tab for the message “2023-2024 FAFSA Information:  We have received your 2023-2024 FAFSA information from the U.S. Department of Education’s Central Processing Center (CPS).”  If you have filed a FAFSA but the Required Documents tab does not indicate it has been received, please contact us.  Please keep in mind that it can take up to a week after you file for your FAFSA to load into our system.

Before assuming that the FAFSA is not right for you, please let us help you understand the FAFSA by breaking down myths versus facts about Federal Student Aid and its process.
