HON 399 Approval Process
HON 399 is an Independent Study course wherein students partner with a faculty member (including Honors staff who have been approved accordingly as faculty sponsors) to work on completion of a service- or community-based learning experience in the field that meets specified goals. Any UK faculty may serve as a service mentor.
A proposal form is required and must be submitted for review and approval. HON 399 Independent study will satisfy Honors Experience Credit. For student-proposed HON 399 projects, Aryn Wright may serve as the faculty sponsor.
Please follow this process:
- Register for a section of HON 399
- Complete the HON 399 Proposal Form/Syllabus (located below)
- Discuss and turn your proposal in to your faculty or Aryn Wright for review and signature
- Submit your signed, final proposal to your Honors Advisor
Deadlines: The HON 399 Proposal Form must be submitted to Honors by the end of the 3rd week for the Fall and Spring semester courses, and by the end of the 1st week for Summer and Winter Intersession courses. Students should make every effort to seek approval for HON 395 prior to the beginning of the semester. Submitting the signed HON 399 Proposal Form by the appropriate deadline is not a guarantee of approval.
