Eleven UK art students were recognized during the Carey Ellis Juried Student Show in December.

UK Archaeologist Serves as Fulbright Specialist in Croatia

UK archaeologist Paolo Visonà, adjunct associate professor in the School of Art and Visual Studies and part-time instructor in Lewis Honors College, recently served as a Fulbright Specialist at Croatia’s University of Rijeka and University of Zadar, where he shared his expertise of the monetary circulation in this area of the Adriatic before the Roman conquest.

UK Sophomore Named to SEC Student Music Ensemble for Football Championship Weekend

The 2017 SEC Football Championship weekend will feature the return of the SEC Student Music Ensemble showcasing the talents of six music students from the conference schools, including saxophone performance sophomore Kirby Davis, of Greenville, Kentucky.

UK Dedicates Lewis Hall

The facility, which opened this fall semester, is named in honor of UK alumnus Thomas W. Lewis and his wife Jan, who gave $23 million to create one of the country's leading honors programs. The donation is the largest single gift in UK's history.

Alternative Textbook Grants Available for 2018

UK Libraries is now accepting proposals for the 2018-19 Alternative Textbook Grant Program, which aims to encourage UK faculty to adopt open access textbooks or to create original learning materials for their courses. Faculty may apply for one of 10 grants of up to $1,500 each to implement curriculum change required for using an alternative textbook or to produce the content of an alternative textbook. 

December Graduates: Apply to be Commencement Speaker

Students interested in speaking must submit their application by Tuesday, Oct. 31.

UK Receives $12 Million Gift From UK Alumnus

The University of Kentucky recently received a more than $12 million gift from UK alumnus and philanthropist Paul Chellgren and his wife, Deborah Cole Chellgren, to support the Chellgren Center for Undergraduate Excellence. As a result of the gift, Woodland Glen I residence hall in the heart of the UK campus is being named Chellgren Hall.
