Students Awarded Sustainability Summer Research Fellowships

Agricultural and Medical Biotechnology undergraduate students Courtney Shields (Principal Investigator, Kendall Corbin), Bridget Bolt (Principal Investigator, Carlos Rodriguez Lopez), and Gretchen
Ruschman (PI: Lopez) have recently been awarded Sustainability Summer Research Fellowships to do a placement in the Department of Horticulture. These awards, funded by the Environmental Stewardship Fee, seek to support students obtaining research training, skill development and mentorship through student-led and sustainability-focused research initiatives at the University of Kentucky. Courtney will be studying how storage affects wheat grain quality. Bridget and Gretchen's projects will focus on the importance of epigenetic mechanisms on plant microbiome assembly. Congratulations!
