About the International Village Community
The International Village provides students with a meaningful international experience right on UK’s campus. Conveniently located in Blazer Hall, students in the International Village enjoy learning about the world from and with each other. Room assignments pair students from differing backgrounds, and dedicated programming offers opportunities to explore others’ cultures and develop international friendships. Through cultural and recreational programming, as well as through connected coursework, students will have regular interactions with faculty, upper class peer mentors, and staff dedicated to supporting their academic success at the University of Kentucky.
International Village is open to all first-year students of any major and former International Village members. Our community is comprised of international and domestic students. Our international students come from all over the world. International Village is a natural choice for students majoring in any of the languages, anthropology, linguistics, international studies, sociology or ethnic studies and is a valuable opportunity for any student interested in world cultures or considering studying abroad.
Students in International Village will:
- Have dedicated faculty, staff and peer mentors to help you with your transition to campus life.
- Participate in a 3-credit hour connected course that counts toward the UK Core requirement “Global Dynamics”. The connected course is held during the fall semester only and is mandatory to participation in the program.
- Enjoy casual, weekly get-togethers featuring guest speakers, snacks, and culturally themed fun activities on and off campus.
- Experience the best way to form friendships and gain insight into the programs and resources available on campus that will help you evolve and define your passion.
