Elder presentation on an overview of nursing home care

The Nursing Home Ombudsman Agency (NHOA) protects and promotes the rights of long term care residents, including those living in nursing homes, personal care homes and family care homes. Denise will provide an overview of what you should look for when considering a nursing home for your loved one. She will offer tips on how to advocate for your loved one, including how to select a facility, payment options, the importance of residents’ rights and how to get good care. 
Kim Browning will talk about how she started a Family Council at the Lexington care facility where a family member resides. A Family Council is a self-led group of long- term care residents' families and friends that come together to improve the care and lives of their loved ones living in a care facility.
