Applying and Interviewing for a Student Job

1. Search and identify job opportunities

Search the available job postings online at UKJobs. Select the “Student Positions” option. These positions will list all student classified positions for on- and off-campus including Federal Work Study. You must be a current UK student to apply to any of these positions.

  • New jobs are posted on a daily basis, so be sure to check often.
  • We encourage you to apply to any and all positions you are interested in and meet the minimum requirements.
  • Student job titles that begin with “FWS” identify Federal Work-Study positions. You must qualify to be eligible to apply for these positions. Eligibility is determined from information provided on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Learn more about Federal Work-Study here

Narrow your search by using the filtering options!

  • On Campus/Off Campus category
  • Federal Work-Study under Job Category
  • Use the “Keywords” field to search for specific job titles or skill sets within a job posting

2. Create and update your application
Fill out your application online at UKJobs by clicking the "Apply for this job" button located within the job posting you are interested in.

  • Please carefully complete your application to include as much information as possible and update the information regularly.
  • Once you have created your application, you can use the same application to apply to multiple positions on UKJobs.

3. Know the selection process
(This process is dependent on the type of position you have applied for, which can be identified by the requisition number.)

  • SE – Position posted through the HR Student Employment office. These positions typically are for off-campus local employers or on-campus third party vendors.
  • DU – These positions are posted directly by the UK departments who conduct their own selection process.
  • TE – These temporary positions are posted through the UK STEPS office on behalf of UK departments. STEPS is the University’s in-house temporary staffing solution. Selection process varies based on position and desired qualifications.
