Portrait of STEPS Employee

Lisa Fuller, Patient Relations Assistant in the UK HealthCare Gill Heart Institute

Lisa Fuller had worked for many years in customer service roles. She enjoyed her interactions with customers, but she was beginning to feel a bit burned out.

Lisa had applied for a STEPS position at UK in November 2017 that ultimately went to another candidate. But the UK STEPS Temporary Employment team kept her in mind when another position in the UK HealthCare Gill Heart Institute became available in January 2018.

Since, then Lisa has found value in working somewhere with a mission to serve.

"I think the whole culture here is about providing excellent patient care," she said. "For the first time in my life, I feel like I spend every day with people who are all working together for a common goal."

Lisa recently moved into a full-time regular position, and she's considering attending classes at UK to broaden her skills.

"It's clear that everyone here has something to contribute," she said. "And we appreciate our co-workers. Everyone just enjoys being part of something so special."
