The book, Our Iceberg is Melting, tells the tale of a colony of Emperor Penguins in Antarctica. The colony has inhabited the same iceberg for generations, and they have naturally come to think of it as their permanent home. Then one day a curious penguin makes the unwelcome discovery that their iceberg is melting, endangering the lives of the entire colony. This workshop compares the tale of these penguins - how they cope with this impending crisis and the inevitable change that is foisted upon them - from the perspective of our own organization. This story of denial, fear, resistance to change and heroism, is applied to coping with change and transition from a personal and professional perspective. Is your iceberg melting? Do you know how to identify problems in your organization? How can a colony of penguins help to determine what changes are necessary? At the end of this workshop, participants will:
- Identify what character "types" are necessary for a successful change strategy;
- Determine how their "type" fits into the change transformation;
- Work through the Eight-Step Process for Leading Change; and
- Apply the process to individual and group transformation efforts.
