Unconscious Bias Initiative

In consultation with Cook Ross, the Unconscious Bias Initiative (UBI), began in 2016 as part of campus-wide efforts to fulfill the goals outlined by UK’s 2015-2020 Strategic Plan. With the creation of IEDE in 2019, the Office for Institutional Diversity found an opportunity to more deeply engage the work of UBI around the University’s educational mission. Under IEDE, the Unconscious Bias Initiative serves as an initial step toward developing awareness around bias and discrimination. Participants will have a stronger foundation in concepts related to privilege, oppression, and microaggressions, and will be able to identify how these concepts manifest in interpersonal interactions and shaped by policy.

In response to COVID-19, as of March 16, 2020, all learning sessions for Unconscious Bias will be facilitated online via Zoom until further notice.
